About Us

Helping Australians to live free from sexual, domestic and family violence.

Who are we? Why do we exist?

What Were You Wearing Australia (WWYW) is an ACNC-registered charity dedicated to ending domestic, family, and sexual violence (DFSV). Founded and led by young, marginalised people, we create the services and spaces we wish had existed when we needed them most. As of October 2025, WWYW remains 100% volunteer-led, powered by lived experience and a shared commitment to change. We’re currently focused on building a sustainable future so we can continue to support survivors, educate communities, and advocate for systemic change for years to come. Below, you can explore our key programs and initiatives.

Our Mission

To end domestic, family, and sexual violence

by centring the voices and leadership of young, marginalised people. We do this by creating the trauma-informed education, advocacy, and support services we wish we had, empowering survivors to heal, be heard, and drive meaningful change in their communities.

A world where young, marginalised people are safe, believed, and supported.

Our Vision

Our Approach

Awareness

Fight for change with us! We won’t stop until we live in a community safe from sexual violence. Advocacy with us involves working with institutions, schools, universities and the government on making our world safer.

Education

We commit to providing education to the community on sexual violence, consent, sex, life after trauma, respectful relationships and much more. Education is one of the most important things we want to achieve at WWYW, as we believe that is the key to changing the perspectives on victim blaming.

Advocacy

From protests to panel events, our team creates events that bring much needed awareness to our key issues. With sexual violence being one of the biggest issues Australians are facing, we need to make change NOW.

Our Core Values

Intersectionality

Our work is built by young, marginalised people, those who live at the intersections of gender, race, culture, sexuality, disability, and class.

Youth-centred

WWYW is youth-led and youth-driven.

Honesty

We lead with honesty and transparency, in our advocacy, our storytelling, and our growth.

We show up for survivors with empathy, care, and understanding.
